The James B. AVERY family of Buncombe Co., NC in 1820 migrated into Monroe Co., TN just before 1830 and by 1840 had settled in the Nolin River-Bacon Creek area of Hart co., Ky. James AVERY's first wife is recorded as "Miss GENTRY". Need her first name. She was deceased before 1850 and James had taken a second wife, Virginia W. ALLEN. The first wife was apparently the sister of John N., Thomas, Jesse & Elias GENTRY, all neighbors of James AVERY in Buncombe Co., from Caroline Co., VA. Parents were David and Elizabeth GENTRY. AVERY sons, several named for patriots were: George Washington (b) ca 1815; James Madison; Andrew Jackson; Francis Marion; and by second wife Thomas J. (Jefferson-?). Known daughters were Elizabeth ALLEN, Matilda CASWELL, Melinda MILLER, Sarah GIBSON WILKERSON, Mary ??, Ann A. ASH. James AVERY, (b) ca 1795 in NC, seems to have been the young son in the household of Buncombe Co., widow, Elizabeth AVERY in 1810.
