Seeking information on the following families: Information taken from THEY FACED TOMORROW by Evelyn Smith Smith "Catherine (Cynthia Overton) was born in 1790, in Perquimans county, North Carolina. There, she married Vinson Avery on January 14, 1809. On January 2, 1808, Frederick Avery, Jr., Vinson's brother married Lecia Overton, Catherine's sister. Vinson and Frederick Avery, Jr., were the sons of Frederick Avery, Sr., and Susannah Avery, whose other children were Frederick, Jr., Sally, Nancy, and one more daughter. When Frederick Avery, SR., died in August 1800, Vinson's inheritance included a sow, 2 bull yearlings named Deck and Darby, and a cow named Lucky. Catherine and Vinson's only child, Willis was born October 17, 1809. Vinson, a sailor, made many trips back and forth across the Atlantic Ocean to England. Soon after his marriage to Catherine, Vinson died on one of these voyages, and was buried at sea. His brother, Frederic, vowed that he would always look after the infant Willis. After months of discussion, friends and relatives in Perquimans county decided to move to Tennessee and establish new homes. A wagon train was formed, and traveling with it over the Blue Ridge mountains were Catherine and her son Willis. By 1811, these pioneers were settled at Harper's Creek in Davidson county, Tennessee. There in the early spring of 1812, Catherine married William McCutcheon. Both were 22." I would appreciate any help.
