For years I have struggled with my Jasper Avery family. Perhaps one of you may have the answer for me. Jasper was my great-great-grandfather. He moved from Saratoga Co., NY, to Lewis to Jefferson, namely Watertown and the family lived in that area for years. I suppose some still do. He was born 1794 and married Sarah Sidmore, from Saratoga Co., in Lewis Co. At one time he was connected to the Averys of Groton, as being a son of Elisha who was married to Elizabeth Armstrong, dau. of Richard, all living in Saratoga Co. Many of my relatives joined the DAR through this line. Elisha was supposed to be the son of Ebenezer. Two books make this assumption. But I discovered in later years the Groton Averys did not accept Elisha as son of Ebenezer. And so, as far as I know it never got straightened out. And, yes, I joined the DAR through aother line and have 4 supplementals. I just would like so much to finally lay this to rest. I know there are other Averys. But which line is his?
