Duane, I'm decended from Christopher Avery and son James whose line has been published in The Groton Avery Clan. They come from the Devonshire area but the whole area including Cornwall is loaded with Averys. You probably need to make a trip if you haven't already. The records over there are incredible. Have you looked into the Deedam Averys also? Stephanie Lanterie president of the Avery Memorial Association could maybe help you. SGLantiere@aol.com . Stay in touch you never know where we might connect and I'll do the same. Hi! This is being resent as I omitted the Avery Memorial Association web site yesterday which is www.averymemorialassociation.com ,. BTW my great grandfather Leonard Eugene Bill's third cousin Dr. Roswell Park , a well known doctor in Buffalo, New York; has a cancer institute in his name in that city. Dr. Park was one of the physicians summoned on the shooting of President William McKinley in 1901,. Both men were Avery descendants through Deborah Avery that married Roswell Park(e),. Sometimes the "e" is used in Park other times no. You may find fascinating the Wikipedia entry on Dr. Park at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dr._Roswell_Park ,. The ancestral site of the Avery's in Groton, Connecticut; will have another archaeological dig this May. The Phase IV Dig will be from Friday, May 15TH to Monday May 18Th,. Contact Dr. Ted Davi if interested at gambitdavi@aol.com ,. Relatively yours, Scott Hi! The Avery Memorial Association newsletter arrived today. The reunion for the Avery's is in Essex,Connecticut; this year on July 18TH, at the Griswold Inn www.griswoldinn.com . The following day at the Groton Congregational Church where the Avery window is located attendees will attend the service at 10:00 A.M.,. The reunion speakers are Jim Streeter who will speak about the "Avery Chapel" and "Avery Memorial Arch",. Vincent Pitts, speaking on "The Avery's and the Abolitionist Movement",. I would like to attend on the 18TH, but likely to have a conflict. Reunion information contact Greg Thompson at gthomp5749@aol.com . While their names are not Avery but descendants of Roswell Parke and Deborah Avery are the Bill family in my lineage. James Alexander Bill, a pro Southern Connecticut State Senator and State Representative named three of his children Kansas Nebraska Bill, Jefferson Davis Bill, and Lecompton Constitution Bill and this family lived and is buried in Lyme,Connecticut. This James was first cousin to my great great grandfather James Leonard Bill. James Leonard's full brother Jephthah Geer Bill was a Republican State Representative in Connecticut from Griswold; and their half brother Benjamin Shaw Bill perished at Andersonville prison in Georgia. The political differences in these close relatives are interesting.
