Bobbie & List, John's email at AOL has been hacked. Do not click on the link! John has been notified he needs to change his password and run anti-virus. Hopefully, the AVERY list admin has put the AOL email on the restricted list, that is he can receive from us but not us from his AOL email. Hello Duane, I do have in my tree an Ernest John Avery (b.1869) who married Elizabeth Ann Hooper (b.1871) in 1894. However, they were both born in the parish of Maker, across the river Tamar from Plymouth, and there were strong naval connections in both families. Ernest's father John Avery was in the Royal Navy and died at sea, and Elizabeth's father was a Trinity House pilot .... so it seems unlikely that there are easy links to your couple. Good luck. John I'm from the Groton Avery Clan which came over from Devonshire in 1630 so don't know about Averys that came over later however your ancestors lived very close so we all must be related. Have you looked at the Groton Avery Clan books written in 1912. 14 generations and over 4,000 people are listed. Most libraries have these books and you might find a connection there. Good luck and are you aware of the Avery Memorial Assoc. in Groton CT. Hello - I thought I would try to find other Averys in my family by having my DNA tested. Well guess what? DNA shows I am more closely related to the Perry family than to the Avery Family. Are there any other Averys who have a Perry connection? The Perrys who I am connected to came from Watertown MA which is about 35 miles from Dedham where a branch of the Avery family was located. My Avery line goes back to Jacob Avery b. ca 1784 in PA according to his census and Massachusetts according to his son's census Jacob's father was probably William Avery who died in 1834. Any assistance would be appreciated. Just keep the technical DNA lingo to a minimum. :) Jim Avery Dover PA

Shelley, I'm sure you are famliar with the Groton Avery Clan. I see where there are quite a few Emmas listed as well as some Parkers If you haven't you should. Sally Avery Warren ________________________________ From: Shelley Cardiel <cardiels@comcast.net> To: AVERY@rootsweb.com Sent: Fri, April 8, 2011 7:09:58 AM Subject: [AVERY] PARKER - AVERY Family Photographs I've "rescued" two old photographs belonging to the PARKER Family of Chicago, Illinois. The first is identified as that of John PARKER, taken in 1883 at the Brand Studio in Chicago. John appears to be in his early teens at the time the photograph was taken. In addition to his name and the date the initials "E. J. B." also appear on the back of the photograph. The second photograph is one of an unidentified woman, also taken at the Brand Studio, most likely in the 1880's, she appears to be in her teens or 20's at the time it was taken. Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding John and his family: John Edward PARKER was b. 15 Apr 1865 in Virden, IL to parents Charles Irving PARKER (b. 10 Mar 1838 in Bedford, NH) and Frances Emma AVERY (b. 24 Jun 1842 in Memphis, TN). John was one of 5 children born to this couple including, Adela Frances; John Edward; William; Alfred; and Mabel Lillian PARKER, all born between 1864 and 1876 in Virden and Danville, IL. John married Abbie or Addie Barbara SLATER (b. about 1865) on 6 Nov 1895 in Detroit, MI and together they had a son, George William PARKER b. Oct 1897 in Detroit, MI. Abbie or Addie PARKER died April 1905 and John died 4 Jul 1910 in Chicago, IL. Census records provide the following information: 1880 census of Hyde Park, IL: C. I. PARKER, age 42, a School Principal, born NH, parents born NH Frances PARKER, wife, age 39, Keeping House, born TN, parents born NY/VT Adele PARKER, dau, age 16, at School, born IL John PARKER, son, age 15, at School, born IL William PARKER, son, age 8, at School, born IL Alfred PARKER, son, age 6, at School, born IL Mabel PARKER, dau, age 3, born IL E. M. AVERY, mother-in-law, age 74, at Home, born VT, parents born MA/NY I am hoping to locate someone from this PARKER Family so that these wonderful old photographs can be returned to the care of family.
