In 1900 she had give birth to seven children, but only five were still living. In 1900 she stated that she was from Arkansas as well as her parents. However, it appears that her family is actually for S. Carolina as well.

    3. R.E. Aiken, I'm guessing you might be talking about Ancestry's "Ancestors" tv program that was picked up by many PBS stations across the nation and the Family History Libraries "IGI". I probably should not have jumped in here because many of "Ancestors" programs were scheduled on our genealogy society meeting night and I saw just a few. But thought I'd try and help: First if your talking about the FHL/IGI you can print out the information and take it with you, at least that's been my experience. I don't know your level of genealogy experience or if you are currently using a genealogy computer program? What came to my mind first is pretty basic but here goes - are you looking for a "family group sheet", where you list the father and his vital information, then the mother and hers, child no.1, etc, etc.? This would be a form that you could print off of any computer genealogy program and/or you can purchase (often given out free at some libraries) these for a little bit of nothing at libraries or genealogical societies (cost usually well under $1). William Dollarhide and other authors publish a variety of forms that are also sold in most fairly large size retail book stores. I apologize if I have missed you needs completely or if you are already aware of family group sheets. But they are great guidelines to work off of when doing research, unless your using a lap top, I can't imagine why anyone would work off of anything else. Karen Avery Miller

I recently saw on a TV program about genealogy a printed sheet that you printed off from your computer, it was a type of tick sheet that when you went too the PRO/IGI you enterd your details onto it then when you got home you then enterd the details into your tree. Does anyone know were i can get such a program possibly shareware from the net. Thanks in advance. R.E.Aitken.

    3. I ran across this site in Indiana which has an index of marriages in Indiana which took place prior to 1850. If you do a search for the surname "Avery" you'll come up with 71 marriages! Hope this helps some Indiana Avery's out there! The URL is: http://www.statelib.lib.in.us/tango/marriage/a-b.qry?function=form Cheryl Hemingway chemingw@inet.net

    3. I am sending this to all eight of my mail-lists. When MAISER broke ;-) .... ROOTSWEB stepped in and took ALL of the more than 1,000 lists that MAISER had .... AT NO CHARGE! But they did have considerable costs to be able to do this .... more than $6,000 to buy new equipment + many many hours of labor! Usually, to be able to have TWO lists on ROOTSWEB, the listowner must contribute $24 a year. That would be approximately $100 a year for my eight lists. I did not have to do that, but I still feel that $100 would be a BARGAIN for what we all receive. I am so glad that Brian & Karen (ROOTSWEB) had the money to invest in us. They are hoping that through contributions that they can get back some of the money they spent, but they are not requiring it, nor counting on it. Most people do not have alot of extra cash, but most do have an extra $1 - $5 that they would not miss. What I am proposing, is that everyone on my lists, IF THEY CAN, donate $1 -$5 to ROOTSWEB in the name of Larry Stephens who ran MAISER (without compensation). IF you want to do this ... you can send the money to me and I will send it in one BIG check to ROOTSWEB, or you can send it individually. If you send it directly, PLEASE donate it in the name of LARRY STEPHENS and your LISTNAME. Also if you chose to send it individually, please let me know how much you sent and which list you are on so I can keep tabs and let the lists know. The addresses: Elaine J. 3. I have *finally*, after many years of fruitless searching, gotten a solid lead on my Amy Avery and Adolphus Downer. A family bible that just surfaced indicates that their eldest child, Albert Downer, was born in Hartford CT in abt 1801. Does anyone have access to the Barbour Collection or any vital records/christening records from Hartford County or Hartford City that would be willing to see if they can find a record of the birth of Albert Downer and/or the marriage of Adolphus ( and any variant of Adolphus) DOWNER and Amy AVERY? I would be so grateful for any assistance! Cheryl Hemingway chemingw@iNet.net http://members.tripod.com/~Chemingway/HomeonWeb.html A miser is hard to live with, but makes a fine ancestor. 3. The following was taken from this week's edition of Eastman's Online Genealogy Newsletter. Subscription information is posted at the bottom of this message. - National Archives' Electronic Access Project The following is an extract from an announcement by the U.S. National Archives and Records Administration: The National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) is making it easier than ever for people to find and use documents from its collections. Through the Electronic Access Project (EAP), funded through the support of Senator Bob Kerrey of Nebraska, anyone, anywhere, with a computer connected to the Internet can search descriptions of NARA's nationwide holdings and view digital copies of some its most popular documents. In the Strategic Plan, NARA outlined the agency's electronic access strategy: We will continue our construction of a nationwide, integrated online information delivery system that educates citizens about NARA and its facilities, services, and holdings: makes available digital copies of high-interest documents; and contains an online ordering capability. We will build a practical, affordable automated system for tracking and using records throughout their life cycle. The Electronic Access Project is laying the groundwork for the future development of a life-cycle system. The project, still in the developmental phase, will eventually result in a virtual card catalog of all NARA holdings nationwide, including those in the Presidential libraries and regional archives. In addition, copies of NARA's most popular and significant manuscripts, photographs, sound recordings, maps, drawings and other documents will be digitized and available for researchers to view online. Users will be able to search the descriptions in the system by title, subject, date, or other keywords. Throughout development of the virtual card catalog, NARA will be upgrading our public access Internet capabilities. Until the development of the catalog is completed, NARA will continue to provide access to the prototype system, the NARA Archival Information Locator. NAIL is an online searchable database that contains information about a wide variety of NARA's holdings across the country. Although the locator contains more than 250,000 descriptions and 3500 digital documents, it represents only a limited portion of NARA's vast holdings. Until the catalog is completed, NARA will continue to add descriptions and digital documents to the prototype.
