    1. How we do a ROLL CALL???
    2. Little Mouse
    3. Hey all! Some of the list have been rather quiet latly so I like to see if anyone would like ot try something to get them up again. Some of the list I am on have done ROLL CALLS, you put ROLL CALL and the surname you are looking for in the subject line and then add more iformation in the body. I have gotten some response from this from my list and I thought maybe we could help find out who is looking for whom and maybe help each other out? What's the vote? I not going to start it til it looks like it is something that we all would like to see done.. -- -- Askins, Avery, Bozarth, Buchanan, Bratcher, Bumm, Barbeau, Bean, Compton, Carroll, Duncan, Davis, Davison, Dixon, Else, Etheridge, Fishback, Galloway, Gehm, Graham, Grimes, Hammer, Hack, Harned, Hartley, Hardin, Harbin, Hogue, Hays, Jennings, Junkin, Lively, Lamppin, Marr, Moore, McDaniel, Norris, Pomeroy, Pinkstone, Porter, Parramor, Robinson, Shain, Sapp, Sowders, Torrence, Threkeld, Tawgood, Wallace

    1. AVERY Mail-List Instructions:
    2. -Lane
    3. AVERY Mail-List Instructions: 1. How to unsubscribe. Send a message to AVERY-L-request@rootsweb.com that contains (in the body of the message) the command unsubscribe and NO additional text. 2. How to subscribe. Whatever you just did worked, or you'd not be getting this message. But for future reference (for instance, if your subscription is cancelled for whatever reason and you want to resubscribe), just send the command "subscribe" to AVERY-L-request@rootsweb.com. 3. How to change to digest mode (several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message). There are TWO STEPS. First, send the command "unsubscribe" to AVERY-L-request@rootsweb.com to discontinue mail mode. Second, send the command "subscribe" to AVERY-D-request@rootsweb.com to start receiving digests. 4. How to change to NOMAIL mode. There is no formal NOMAIL mode. All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again. 5. If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to AVERY-L@rootsweb.com. It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both. Your listowner, -Lane EJCornell@ilnk.com

    1. Avery, Gibson County, TN 1870
    2. I am trying to find Demetra Avery who was born in March, 1860. I have a copy of a page of the 1870 Gibson County, TN. Census. Demetra Avery's father was struck by lightening and died. Not sure when her Mother died, but my 90 year old aunt says that Demetra Avery was raised by her brother, Sidney Avery. If ANYONE recognizes any of these names from this census, I would appreciate any help! 1870, Gibson County, Robinsonville Post office, August 9, 1870: #2626 (can't read this name) (looks like): McIsun/McIsirn, I. F., 38, M, White, Farmer, Born in TN. (looks like) Minnie, 62, F, White, at home, born in N. C. Avery, Mattie/Mattee, 23, F, White, at home, born in TN. (looks like) Malissa, 21, F, White, at home, born in TN. (look like) Cornelia, 21, F, White, at home , born in TN. Sidney, 19, M, White, Farmer, born in TN Isabelle, 19, F, White, at home, born in TN (Sidney's wife???) (could this be short for Demetra??????) Metsy, 11, F, white, born in TN. Lizzy, 9, F, White, at home, born in TN. If anyone knows anything about this family.....even if it proves that I am barking up the wrong tree, that will be fine, too. To prove anything, either way, would be progress. Thank you very much! Marsha Owen

    1. Re: AVERY, Seth M., ca 1800, NY
    2. I just noticed the message I sent the other day was incomplete. So, here we go again. ( My computer and I have had a lot of WORDS lately, but I think it is fixed now.) My Avery is Sarah Avery borm 3 June 1826 in Chester County. PA. She died 16 Aug 1885 in Ellery (Fredonia), Chautuaqua County, NY. She married Samuel Cranston 1848 in Otsego County, NY. They had 3 sons and 6 daughters. She is buried in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Fredonia, NY. I found a grave for a Seth Avery and others in this cemetery. They will answer queries at the address in my previous post. The lot record at the cemetery says she was born in PA . It also says she was the daughter of S & C Avery. Anyone have any guesses who these Avery's are, or where to look as I have not found them in Otsego County? Any help appreciated. Leah Morse LeahChris@aol.com LeahChris@worldnet.att.net

I was unable to locate my husbands ancestor, so I asked the clerk to look it up. They have EXCELLENT records. I am researching Sarah Avery, born 3 Jun 1826 Chester, PA. Died of Neuralgia 16 Aug 1885 in Fredonia, Chautauqua, NY. She married Samuel Cranston in 0.

I hope to God that this is real...that there really is money going for cancer research here...I know how many people desperately need help. On a personal note, my grandfather is dying of prostate cancer...I just got a call from my Mom at the hospital in Memphis (7/2/97)...I would do anything to save his life, and if forwarding an email to a bunch of you guys means that more money may go to stop others from prematurely losing someone that they hold dear, then I will...read on. Live beautifully! Jenn This is not a chain letter....HONEST! I was asked to pass it on and as we all know..I always do what I am told =) No comedy here. It's about a seven year old girl with cancer. Read it and pass it on to as many people that you can. Occasionally we get to use this medium for some actual good, rather than trading barbs across the waves. And once in a while things like this bring us back to reality, allowing us to count ourselves lucky in life. Let's put our network to work here! It will only take you a second to send this message. *************************************************************** JESSICA MYDEK IS SEVEN YEARS OLD AND IS SUFFERING FROM AN ACUTE AND VERY RARE CASE OF CEREBRAL CARCINOMA. 2. I am seeking information on Ebenezer AVERY, the son of Ebenezer and Abigail (Story) Avery. Is there any record of him in Connecticut? I am beginning to think he might be the same as my Ebenezer Avery, of Maine and New Brunswick. I had thought he was from WInthrop,Maine where he was married in 1804 but there is not a record of him in the Vital Records there. Perhaps, he was passing through Winthrop on his way to New Brunswick. The name " Ebenezer" also intrigues me! I am wandering to my self how many Ebenezer Avery's there are!!!!! LOL If anybody can help prove or disprove my theories I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanx! Adam
