I asked the Daughters of the American Revolution if anyone has verified Johannes' military service through them. I also asked about Henry Cronise who served with Johannes: Hi Catherine, I'm sorry to say that there is no Johannes Abel (or similar spelling) listed in the DAR Patriot Book. This doesn't mean that he didn't serve - just that no one has used him as a patriot for DAR membership. (Henry Cronise is listed in the DAR Patriot Book.) Good luck with your search!
