Harriet was first married to William Keiser in 1846, before she married Eli Toothman. (I think it was Nick Sturm who sent that info to me, just found it in my notes) Catherine "C. I am researching the Auvil name. I was born in Barbour Co. WV. My parents: James C. Kelley and Mary Virginia Auvil. I believe her Father was H.K. Auvil--he was married to Zora Marstiller (sp)? I think they may have come from Randolph Co. Zora died fairly young and H. K. Auvil remarried (Dorothy?). H.K. and Dorothy lived in Philippi during 1950's. I remember meeting them. Dorothy had a daughter, (Rosie Cunningham?). Mary Virginia Auvil had sibs: Harry,(I found death record in MT)--- Robert, Eva, Margarite and Ruby. I have no other info. Thanks
After reading Carla's post that Daniel Auville was listed as "Anvil" in one Civil War document, when I came across this page: http://jefferson.village.virginia.edu/vshadow2/rosters/au.rostersearch.html I searched for Anvil and got: Anvil [Arrvil], H.D. Could this be our H.D. Auvil (Hochwaerter line) who would have been the correct age to have fought in the Civil War? Paul H. Calhoun wrote to me that Mateus Halberg/Halfhill left a will naming his daughter "Susannah Avel." His will was proved 27 Jan 1827 in PA. I had never heard about this will before. Does anyone have a copy? Catherine
In the article about Sarah at the link below, is the statement that "Only about five years ago four members in their 90's were photographed for an Inter-Mountain reunion story." Does anyone have a copy of that? http://www.auvil.com/sarahbelvapresseau.htm Catherine
Does anyone have an account at ancestry.com? They have added new Civil War Records and there is an Auvil (must be Daniel Moats?). Can only be viewed by subscribers though... Catherine
