Discussing the Autry name on the Autry Net brings to mind an amusing instance that happen to my husband and I while searching information for the Bundy and Brooks book. We met a distant cousin and she told my husband that she had a warm feeling for his grandfather because she used his Civil Army record to become a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. The only problem was his grandfather was never in the army during the Civil War. We found the record of another man by the same name that was in the Confederate Army but he was from another part of Tennessee. Apparently she used this mans Army service record thinking he was our grandfather. Instances similar to this and other problems that we encountered in gathering information on the family has made us more forgiving toward misinformation and errors that we find in genealogy books. Perfection is impossible but we need to make ever effort to verify our information. Evelyn Autry
