John AUTREY, b. 23 May 1780 in Greene Co., GA, d. bef. 1840, married (prob. 2nd) Elizabeth HILL, b. 03 Feb 1795, d/o Annie Naomi CAMP and John HILL, rev. war vet and son of Abel HILL and Elizabeth WAGGONER of Pendleton Co., SC. Elizabeth HILL was the sister of Nancy HILL, b. 03 Jan 1793 in Jackson Co., GA who married Jacob AWTREY, b/o John. Jacob AWTREY/ AUTREY married Eliza HILL, b. 1802 in Franklin Co., GA (and another sister) after Nancy died in 1852. No children that I know of by Eliza. William HILL, b. abt. 1791 in Rutherford Co., NC and b/o the other 3 HILL siblings, married Elizabeth AWTREY, b. 1793 in GA, d. 26 Jan 1851 in Calhoun Co., AL and s/o John and Jacob. They died leaving 3 minor children who were in Murray Co., GA with their Uncle Isaac AWTREY/ AUTREY. The 3 children were made wards of their uncle Isaac AUTREY/ AWTREY until 1842 when Isaac was sick and just before he died. The 3 minor children were Sarah AWTREY, b. 04 Apr 1824 and married Drewry Alvin EUBANKS in abt. 1846 when they went to CA for the gold rush; Isaac AWTREY, b. 19 Apr 1826 and living with Drewry Alvin EUBANKS and his sister Sarah in the 1850 Murray Co., GA census and with Alvin's brother William Pinkney EUBANKS in the 1860 Greene Co., AR census (listed as age 40 in error); and George Washington AWTREY, who was made a ward under the guardianship of Drewry Alvin EUBANKS in 1849 since Alvin was his brother-in-law. George Washington AWTREY was in Greene Co., AR later also and died there. He married 3 times and had several children. Sarah died sometime after 1900 in Polk Co., AR. She had gone to Comanche Co., TX in 1900 to live with one of her twin sons named Jackson Nebraska EUBANKS, but returned to Polk Co., AR probably about the same time as one of her grandsons, Jerome Pennelton EUBANKS returned there from Comanche Co., TX and another of her sons Chaste C. EUBANKS and his wife Rachel ___. I don't know what happened to Isaac AWTREY after 1860.
