Robert, as one of those who tends to lean toward the Scottish origins of our family I found it interesting that the MCAUGHTER you listed was from "Kirk". One of those that I have referred to is named Roland MacAughtrie who was not from "Kirk" but "Kirkcudsbrightshire". I wouldn't blame anyone for wanting to shorten that one!
