Mr Brooks, Yes, I agree that it would be great to be able to document some of these old Autry's. Incidently, I have ordered a second copy of your book and Blair's from Higginson that I plan to donate to the Louisiana State University Library in Baton Rouge in the name of my Grandmother, Flora Autry Taylor. I don't believe that anyone will ever find Cornelius on a Ships Manifest because I do not feel that he was the original immigrant.. From the timeline - (and it is simple speculation), it appears that when Edward Attore arrived in Virginia in 1650, his descendant(s)/brother/cousin ???? remained in that area. Namely the Alexander Autry who died in King William County ca 1706. By 1740, Alex Autray was in North Carolina. Normal migratory route. I believe Edward, Alex, Cornelius are all the same line based on location. Arrived first in Virginia, then migrated to the Carolina's. As I said, pure speculation! Is it possible that the Captain Autry mentioned 1585 (Sir Walter Raleigh) could be the original immigrant.? That would prove interesting as the story of the Lost Colony /Croatoan is very interesting itself. Hi John, While reading your message to Robert, I noticed your reference to your grandmother, Flora Autry Taylor. We recently had a precious lady in our church pass away, Flora Taylor(maiden name)Massey. Could she be related to you? If so, please let me know and I can email what info I have on her, if you are interested. ~Janet ----- Original Message ----- From: "The Taylor's" <ctaylor@accesscom.net> To: <AUTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Saturday, February 16, 2002 5:36 AM Subject: Re: [AUTRY] Mr. Brooks-Old Autry's > Mr Brooks, > Yes, I agree that it would be great to be able to document some of these old > Autry's. > > Incidently, I have ordered a second copy of your book and Blair's from > Higginson that I plan to donate to the Louisiana State University Library in > Baton Rouge in the name of my Grandmother, Flora Autry Taylor. > > I don't believe that anyone will ever find Cornelius on a Ships Manifest > because I do not feel that he was the original immigrant.. > > From the timeline - (and it is simple speculation), it appears that when > Edward Attore arrived in Virginia in 1650, his descendant(s)/brother/cousin > ???? remained in that area.
