Lots of folks list our James as a son of William and Mary Autry Campbell. I wish he were.....it would simplify things tremendously. Unfortunaltely for us, I have found no evidence that William A. is his father. Everything points to Mary Lane of Hickman Co., Tn. being his mom, not Mary Campbell. Granville's Civil War record lists him being born in Hickman Co., Tn. I have found nothing that mentions James (b.1742) as ever living there. Everything I've seen indicates William A. was born 1784 or so. Our William, per the family bible, says 1794/6. I just don't think it's the same person. I would be very interested in comparing notes on our research of this line, should you be interested. David
