    3. I was reading a tour book for my next trip to London, when I ran across a church called the "Ottery St. Drake". So, of course, I looked it up! Here's the information I found about the town it's in (and boy, that surname sure sounds similar, doesn't it?) The page I found that on is at http://www.eastdevon.net/Ottery/history.htm The town name originated from the first manor house occupied by the Canons of Rouen (1061-1337), named 'Otrei'. It wasn't until 1207 that "St Mary" was added to the place-name in honour of the town church. Ottery was soon to became a thriving market town, by charter of Henry III. I'm going to try to look up the Canons of Rouen and see what I can find. (anybody want to guess where I'm going on my next trip to England? :) ) -- Andréa, Queen of Nothing
