    1. Re: [AUTRY] John Calvin Autry
    2. To Amy Pegram: There is not much info on this John C Autry on p. 691. It is in the Chapter with multiple subheadings, that Cousin Mayo had collected over some 60 years. He does comment that he knew little of Isham's family before this edition of the book. There is a lot more on the first child's family, Arkatie Belle Daniel ?Autry, than on the other 3. This suggests that her descendant may have supplied the info. Some of these children are still alive, and I think that Andrea had to eliminate all the living names when she put it on the internet. Mayo and I did not have that problem when we published the book!. Unfortunately, he does not say who sent this info. At the end of the family above (C. Archy Autry) he comments that he has lost the name of who supplied that portion. Cousin Mayo Bundy was 83 and did this on his typewriter, so it is not surprising that he lost some of the sources. If you go back to child B. George, he says that info came from : John C. Rosser, Jr., Route 1, Box 220, Godwin, NC 28344. But I doubt he supplied the info on the D. John C. Autry family. I suppose it is possible he might have information. In summary, it seems apparent to me that whoever sent the info on the children of John C Autry/Margaret Atwood Daniel did not know of the first marriage, and knew very little of child 2,3 and 4 of this marriage! And Mayo did not record where he got the info, as he usually tried to do. As you saw in the Intro he died before the book was published. If there is any info that you think the pages would give you that are not on the Internet copy, let me know and I will send copies by snail mail. Since this is long, involved and not very clear, I did not send it to the Autry Rootsweb. Sorry cannot find more. Robert Autry Brooks 2-12-04
