    1. [AUTRY] Sources and documentation
    2. Hello Everyone! I hope Spring has hit your parts of the world and the flowers are blooming and you arent suffering from hayfever. First I want to commend Andrea in scanning/uploading Bundy's book on the Autry family. Thank you Robert for giving permission to have it online. It was quite a feat and countless hours, I know because I helped on a tiny portion of it. Thank you Andrea. Second, I dont want any flames towards Andrea and if you want to complain, complain to me if its something worth flaming about. I have had the opportunity to look at the book and I am concerned about its lack of documentation and sources. In the beginning, the book specifys, it says it has no documentation, but I know there are people out there that still think this book is the "gospel truth". I am an family genealogist and if I wanted to join an organization that required documentation, this book could not be used as a source. It might be considered secondary but definately not a primary source. Its a great book to read and glean information but it has its faults. So where do we go from here? In this new era of internet and communication, I propose that we start up a database of sources and documentation for the Autry/Autrey and all the variations of the name and at least get a feel for what is needed in our search for our family's beginnings. Andrea and I will work on this together to bring it to the Autrey Heritage site and keep it up to date. This would be a database of primary sources not secondary sources (ie family histories, word of mouth). I look forward to your input on this serious matter, in how we should set this up.
