Hello Everyone! I hope Spring has hit your parts of the world and the flowers are blooming and you arent suffering from hayfever. First I want to commend Andrea in scanning/uploading Bundy's book on the Autry family. Thank you Robert for giving permission to have it online. It was quite a feat and countless hours, I know because I helped on a tiny portion of it. Thank you Andrea and Robert. Second, I dont want any flames towards Andrea and if you want to complain, complain to me if its something worth flaming about. I have had the opportunity to look at the book and I am concerned about its lack of documentation and sources. In the beginning, the book specifies, it says it has no documentation, but I know there are people out there that still think this book is the "gospel truth". I am an family genealogist and if I wanted to join an organization that required documentation, this book could not be used as a source. It might be considered secondary but definately not a primary source. Its a great book to read and glean information but it has its faults. So where do we go from here? In this new era of internet and communication, I propose that we start up a database of sources and documentation for the Autry/Autrey and all the variations of the name and at least get a feel for what is needed in our search for our family's beginnings. Andrea and I will work on this together to bring it to the Autrey Heritage site and keep it up to date. This would be a database of primary sources not secondary sources (ie family histories, word of mouth). It can be put in a table format or even scanned images. I look forward to your input on this serious matter, in how we should set this up. Warmly, Sara J. I think this is a wonderful idea. There is so much undocumented information out there that many people accept as Gospel. Trying to identify the children of Cornelius and Nancy (Eaves) Autrey, the couple I am researching, has been a most frustrating experience. Along the way I have acquired a number of primary documents on various Autreys. I am ready to contribute to such a data base. Just let me know how you want it. Janey E. Joyce in San Antonio, Texas. Good morning, everyone. I have a document scanner, so if anyone would like to mail me a photocopy of documents I would scan them in so we can have copies on the website for anyone to view for free. You can send the originals if you're willing, but the postal system . . . Ugh. Email me for my address. Sara and I are working on this together.
