Thanks to Richard Autry, I think we now know the first name of John C. Autry's first wife. He found a land transfer in Tippah Co, MS. The time is right and John C. had one or two children born there. There is a marriage of John C in GA, but I suspect it may be one of several John C Autry's. Tippah County Deed Book D, Miss. D-128 - 28 Jan 1841 - J. C. Autery and Sary Autry to John C. Blackwood, $1000 .00 NW 1/4 S1T3R5E and W1/2S36T2R5E. S/ John C. Autry, Sarah Autry before R.P. Dean, JP. Recorded 11 March 1841. H. Bowers,Clk. Would be nice to have the surname, but this is more info than we have had for years. Robert Autry Brooks
Robert, in your research have you any record for Elizabeth Autrey that married John Hopkins. I don't know where they lived at the time of marriage but know that they left Ga and moved to Tenn where John joined Andrew Jackson and was wounded in Talladega Al. but apparently died of blood loss from going back to Tenn. She recieved land in Ala as a result of his service and in 1818 a daughter Nancy married John Fisher in Marengo County Al. They later moved to Perry County Al. where they were all dead by 1858. Nancy and John were my GGgrands. Anything you have on these will be greatly appreciated.
