    3. Looking for Autreys can be a real challenge because of the many ways the name has been spelled. It is not unusual to see the name spelled two or even three different ways on a single document. Just off hand, I have seen the name spelled. Autrey Autery Autry Awtrey Awtry Awtery Awtroy Ortra Ortre Otries Otry Ottery Oytry It can be a real challenge to find them in census indexes. Janey E.     3. Autrey was also sometimes spelled as heard to be related to the now disused mathematical expression "aught" (zero)... Aughtery or Aughtry. If you are using a soundex index, some of these spelling are so far apart that they actually fall under quite different soundex codes.
