    2. When reading the Autry/Culbreth book--or any other--you have to watch carefully to see what is documented and what is not. In our book, I tried to make it clear in the intro that this was usually opinions obtained by Mayo over 60 yrs, sometimes conflicting. I tried to give the origin of the info if available, including the name of the author-who may or may not be living! As always, documentation is the name of the game in genealogy. Maybe that is what distinguishes it from family history. And there are books written on Documentation! If you are dealing before 1850 particularly, documentation is often not possible. Then, as now, there were probably many people who did not want to be found! Robert Autry Brooks

    3. Robert- I live in Levelland, TX and I check with my local library and they did not have it but said they could probably get it on loan. Do you know if a library in Lubbock, TX might possibly have it or even Texas Tech University? Please let me know as I will be going to Lubbock either Tue. or Wed. and would like to see if they have it. Thanks for all your wonderful info! ~Janet ----- Original Message ----- From: <RAB55@aol.com> To: <AUTRY-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, January 21, 2002 1:22 PM Subject: Re: [AUTRY] Giles Autry > When reading the Autry/Culbreth book--or any other--you have to watch > carefully to see what is documented and what is not. > In our book, I tried to make it clear in the intro that this was usually > opinions obtained by Mayo over 60 yrs, sometimes conflicting.
