I am related to the John Franklin Awtrey's (my great grandfather) who came from the Greenfield, Oklahoma area. He had lived in Alabama as a child and moved to Texas as a young man with his wife. Then they moved to Oklahoma. We are having a reunion this summer in Colorado Springs, Colorado. The dates are June 23-25, 2000. We all stay at the same hotel so everyone can have lots of fun together. We have a dinner on Friday night where everyone can share photos and memories afterwards. Then on Saturday, everyone explores the area and will get together that evening to go to a western barbeque and show. We try to meet somewhere every year - it's usually in Oklahoma, but some of us live in Colorado now so we're hosting it this year. I'm sure we have relatives out there that I know nothing about. If they would like to come to the reunion to share memories and have a good time, have them contact me at my email address. Thanks for your help! I certainly like your website! Greenberry is detailed on pg 1146 thru pg 1153 of the The Descendants of Cornelius Autry, Immigrant, of Edgecombe County, and Neil Culbreth of Sampson County, NC, and Allied Families. He is the son of Jacob Autry, Jr.-Regards, Bill Autry At 12:55 PM 2/27/2000 -0500, you wrote: >Trying to find any info. on Greenberry Autry >b.1811 Greene Co,GA > and his second marriage to Sarah Frances Evans. >Md. Re: the queries concerning Greenberry Autry: I recall Mayo Bundy mentioning this Autry when we were compiling the book. This was an area with which he was concerned and I do not know more than he entered in the book. As noted on p. 1145 (which is not numbered, I guess because he added it at the last minute) there is no "smoking gun" proof that Jacob is the son of Cornelius the Immigrant. On p 1148, it appears the info came from Everett T Richards; I don't know what Mayo meant by "No V.E." As he notes on p. 1146 et al., the name appears to be Green,Greene, G.B., or Greenberry. I suspect that someone in the GA area will have to unravel this family mystery, if it is possible at all. If I recall correctly, Cousin Mayo felt there may be two Autry's with similar names. I recently located some more information on this Autry line......if anyone has any additional information or connects to this line, please contact me. Benjamin (maybe C. or J.) Autry (spelled Awtry in the census) b ca 1838-1845 GA (according to two census records) md Martha "Marthey" b ca 1847-1850 GA (also from census records......the name Marthey is how she signed for her son to get married)..... Their Known children were: Idella b ca 1867 Clay Co. AL William Oscar b ca 1870-1871 Clay Co. AL md Johnnie Alice Murchison Benjamin F. b ca 1875 Clay Co. AL I would feel certain there were more children but I do not have proof of this...... The only child I have tracked out is William Oscar and Johnnie Alice (Murchison) Autry......they stayed in Clay Co. AL. Thanks, Debbie Henderson

Jo Autrey has created a list for those who only have "Autrey" and no other variation in their line. She is interested in members who will post a lot, so no lurkers. If you're interested in more information, or joining her list, please contact her at jmautrey@email.msn.com . Of course, Autrey will always be a welcome variation to discuss on this list, as will all other variations. You can belong to both lists. I hope everyone has a good evening. Miss Andrea A. While I don't know when/if the Autryville reunion will be occurring this year, I do know that there are a couple of reunions listed on the reunions part of the Autry page. You can view them on the website at http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~autry/books/ , or I have copied and pasted them below for your convenience. Reunions DESCENDANTS OF ELBERT EUGENE AUTREY For over forty years the descendants of Elbert Eugene Autrey have been gathering on the Labor Day Weekend. It has never varied on the date from one year to another. It is ALWAYS the Saturday of Labor Day Weekend. It is currently being held at the Maud Gun Club in Maud, Bowie County, Texas. It began with the eleven children of Elbert and Alma (Endsley) Autrey and their children and through the years has included Elbert's and Alma's siblings, including the siblings of Elbert's father's, Robert Martin Autrey's second marriage. It now includes distant cousins from Robert Martin Autrey's father, Absalom and Elizabeth (Norris) Autrey, and even other branches of Autr* clans. It is a casual, bring a dish dinner and spend the day event usually lasting from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Bring family photo's and other family history and share with others. Okay, get ready, our first Texan joke, sent to me by a former listmember, Truett: The paper-rich Dallas yuppie drove to his suburban home on a hot July afternoon, parked his BMW 740i in his air-conditioned garage, hustled inside, tossed his Armani suit coat aside, loosened his Givenchy tie, and headed for the recreation room bar where he poured a tall Jack Daniels onto some ice cubes with a bit of Perrier. Looking out the patio window, he noticed, toward the deep end of his swimming pool, a sizeable crowd including some men in emergency uniforms. Hastening outside with drink in hand, he asked one of the men what was going on. "Well, sir, we responded a few minutes ago to a call that someone was drowning in your pool. It appears that the person might be your wife." "Oh, my God, is she all right?" "Well, we do not know at this moment, but we pulled her out of the pool and are administering artificial respiration, with the hope that we can bring her around." "Artificial respiration? Hell, give her the real thing - I can afford it!"
