    3. .The book is now 100% on line (on January 1st, I was still missing 210 pages). I have a few misspellings to correct, and the alignment on a few of the census pages. But other than that, I'm done. Done, done, done. DONE. It's at http://www.autreyheritage.com/autrybook/ I think I'm going to go treat myself to a drink. -- ------------------:::::::------------------Andréa

    3. Harry-I have a copy of the marriage license between Alexander Autry and Sabrina Matthews dated Nov. 28, 1865 as well as a marriage bond for $1000. My line is as follows: My father was Asa James Autry, son of Hugh Dougal Autry, who was son of Alexander and Sabrina. Alex was son of Raeford Autry and Christian???????? Alex's siblings were Sarah, Mary, George, David and Raeford. Alex and Sabrina had the following children: David, Zylphia, Francinia, Alexander, William, and Hugh Dougal. Alex had a second wife, Mary McDaniel. They had 2 children, Angus T. and Raeford K. Where do you fit into this puzzle? Perhaps we are distant cousins. For years, some people have suggested Scotland as an origin of the Autry's, by various spellings. In my family, some said they were French Huguenots who were refugees to Scotland, and then by some way to America. While running through this CD, I found some interesting names. I have no way of knowing if they relate to the American Autrys. The only AUTTREY spelling I found was an Elisabeth Auttrey, born 29 July 1748 in Stirling, Scotland, to Charles Auttrey and Janet Drummond. Why only one person is listed is puzzling. Perhaps it represents someone passing through Scotland? At least, the date is near the time they seemed to appear in North America. There were several children named MCAUGHTRIE, including Alexander, Thomas, William, etc., with similar named fathers. And daughters named Agnes, Elizabeth, Robina, etc. All were listed from Ayr, Scotland, with dates from about 1830 to 1850, which is much later than the Autrys appeared in America. There were one or two named MCAUGHTERY, MCAUGHTREE, and MCAUGHTRY. All of these were from Ayr with similar dates around 1840. So all would seem to be variations of the above spelling. There was one earlier one, a MCAUGHTER from "Kirk" in 1693, who does not seem to be related. I have no idea whether or not these persons have any significance to Autr*y genealogy. But with their well known propensity to be out spoken Protestants, I found it interesting and provocative. 3. Andrea: No hurry, but there should be a footnote on page 30 stating that the Absalom at the top of the page is the grandfather of the Absalom that built the house with his sons in Louisianna. The way it reads (and this is not your fault) is they are one and the same unless you check and see that the grandfather had already died. It may not be a problem for most who are used to reading genealogy, but it might for others. Also, on page 41 there are some spelling errors and another error. It should read Trish Bales , not Tush. It should read Barbara, not Bahrara. And, Whitney is the great granddaughter not gr gr. Also, these people are the descendants of Thomas Jefferson Autrey and Cynthia Heard, not TJ and Mollie Oliver Wise. The next sentence says this completes the family of TJ and Mollie Oliver Wise. He married her after Cynthia died. Thanks for a wonderful job and like I said, there is no hurry about updating the info. You deserve a rest! 3. Nope, not a virus, but thanks for being worried. Anyone who'd like to send me pictures for the website and book is more than welcome to. I prefer to have them high resolution (600 dpi and up), but lower resolution is fine. .jpg format is best. -----Original Message----- From: GARBERCNS@aol.com [mailto:GARBERCNS@aol.com] Sent: Thursday, January 02, 2003 7:50 AM To: AUTRY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [AUTRY] Good to know Thanks, I was worried because it seemed like some of the messages you get when you pick up a virus. By the way, my great grandmother was Louella Autrey, daughter of Thomas J. Autrey and Cynthia Heard. She was born at the Autrey house in Dubach. I have a couple of pictures of her if you would like them for the book. Let me know what format you prefer and the mode of delivery if you want them. 3. I know exactly what that is. It's my signature line, which has a quote from a band called the "Bloodhound Gang" in it. If I wanted to, I could change it to say "booger, booger, booger.". It's not a virus, I promise. GARBERCNS@aol.com wrote: >Andrea, > Your messages are coming with another message at the bottom that is >apparently a type of worm or other unwanted rider. 3. Andrea, I have just been browsing through the book and think it is fantastic. I do have a correction for you. Page 277 lists the children of Arizona Autry as William, Pluinmer and Ester. The one listed as Pluinmer is my grandfather. His name was actually James Columbus. He was given the nickname Plummer by a family friend who had a lisp. I was excited to see the picture of the Old Autry Homeplace. It did make me curious though as to where grandpa was since his older brother is listed as just outside picture and his younger sister is in it. Once again, you have done a wonderful job and I know put in a lot of hard work. 3. Thanks for sending me the corrections. I'll be putting corrections in as I get them, starting next week. I need to take a little time off from the book or I'll make myself nuts. Aunties name was Mirl WINBURNE....(not Windeburn )who married William Gordon Autry...they married in Mangum, Greer Co., OK. at the brides home, Feb. 19, 1925. My appreciation goes to Robert Autry Brooks for compiling the book...I was able to get a copy from him several years ago, and it is so beautifully done....any family should have a copy for themselves. But how great that this is on line now..... Thank you so very much, Diane G.
