    3. Listed on page 336 of the Washington, Porter, Indiana census there's a farm hand named John Autery with a birthplace listed as "Ireland". Has anyone else heard of this person? He was 35 years old at the time, which would place him born about 1825. He was a farm hand in the household of John and Hannah Hanford. Andréa

One is the town of Tippah in Benton Co. and the other is Tippah Village in Tippah County. I am pasting them below. I would go with the county since most genealogy is done by county. I would suggest that you go to the USGenweb Tippah County MS homepage at http://www.rootsweb.com/~mstippah/ and start there. I note that there are many searchable databases there. "Ethel Autry" (we called her "Mammon" lived in San Marcus at that time my GrandFather Fredrick M. Autry had already passed away and sold the gas station after being bed ridden for a while. Mother says he held me in his arms when I was an infant before passing on to be with The Lord. They have a picture of it somewhere (or did). My Dad married only once and only had two sons myself and my Brother: "Charles Lloyd Autry Jr." (I called him "Bubba") We are both Vietnam era Veterans Me Navy Charles Infantry I now have three sons after remarrying and they have asked me to officially adopt them so that they can have our last name. I AM SO BLESSED. That is why I'm doing this research to hand down to them the legacy they deserve. (they already have the legacy of Jesus Christ and now for the rest) My Dad "Charles Lloyd Autry Sr." and his older brother "Milton" (they called him "Bud") where grocers in South Oak Cliff in Dallas. My Dad died in 1965 of a "Massive Coronary Occlusion". The papers said it was the longest funeral procession Oak Cliff had ever known. He received an honorary salute from the South Oak Cliff Police force. He was a HIGHLY respected man (Methodist) and very much a GIVER. 2. Andrea is quite correct. If one waited until all of the information was documented, a book would never get published. Most of the book was from information collected by V. Mayo Bundy over 60 years. He had previously published two Autrey books and a revision. He was past 80 when the book was assembled and died before it was published. I hope we made it clear in the intro that this was material submitted by others, some of whom had died by the time of publication. Even in chapter 4, James A, which I worked on, I found corrections shortly after the book was published and added some of these to the copy that I sent to Andrea to put on the internet. The entire Culbreth/Autry book 1996, can be obtained in copy from Higginson Book Co., Salem, MA. And the book on Capt John Autry by his descendant Mahan Blair Autry can also be obtained from them. I do not have a copy but Cousin Mayo felt there mistakes in it also. Too many Autrey's were named Corneliius, Alexander, John, etc. to keep them straight. And they never stayed long in one place!
