William Franklin Autry is believed to be the son of Samuel H. Autry who was a fireman in the Columbus, Ga. fire dept. I believe him to be buried in a small lot with the name SH Autry on the wall, no marked graves, in Linwood Cemetery. Marshall Autry
I think with message board posts that are gatewayed, you have to go to the message board and post your response there - otherwise the person doesn't get it unless they're also on the Autry list. -----Original Message----- From: ArchAutry@aol.com [mailto:ArchAutry@aol.com] Sent: Saturday, December 04, 2004 9:40 AM To: AUTRY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUTRY] William Franklin AUTRY, aged 5 months, d. 1899 in Columbus, Musco... The little one died yesterday morning at 10:30 o’clock, at the residence of its grandfather, Capt. R. F. KITCHENS [? or KETCHUM?], at No. 1___ First avenue, after an illness of several days, of bronchitis. The little boy was sick two weeks, and everything possible was done to cure it, but in vain. The funeral will take place at ten [?] o’clock today, from the house.” From the “Columbus (GA) Enquirer-Sun” newspaper, Tuesday, 05 DEC 1899, p. 3. My copy is dark and difficult to read in places. I came across this death notice while researching an unrelated matter. I am not kin to this family and have no further information - merely hope this is of use or interest to someone.

I would like to know what happened to Katherine's descendants. I know her husband, Ruben, died and then Katherine died, and some of the children went to an orphanage in Birmingham. I believe one of the daughter's name was Laura (named after Katherine's sister). We have photos of Katherine with her children, Ben, Laura and I believe Ida is the name of another daughter. Anyway, please contact me at pwilli90@yahoo.com. Thanks
In order for our John C. Autry to have married Louisa Wagner in Jasper Co. Missouri in 1843, John C. Autry's 1st wife would have to have died previously. Perhaps Louisa was the mother of Eveline [Evelyn] born 1843. Eveline must have died before 1850 as not listed on the 1850 Crawford Co. Arkansas census. John C. Autry married Margaret Ann Mattix Hinds in Greenwood, Van Buren Co., Arkansas on 19 Aug 1846. So either Louisa died or John C. divorced her before 1846. Looks like I have a lot of probablys or maybes in there. So, to answer the question " did John C Autry, son of William A Autry & Mary Campbell marry Louisa Wagner", I would have to answer that at this point, there are a lot of missing information. Autry? Such as names of siblings? I am searching a George W. Autry born in SC to John & Tabitha (Rea) Autry. In 1850 this family is in SC, 1860 George 5 is in Whitfield County, GA with his Mother and siblings, 1870 George 13, is living with his older brother William in Whitfield County, GA. George's younger sister Martha is also living with brother William. Tabitha can not be found (at this time) in the 1870 Census, nor can her son James F. I have not really spent too much time tracking further in the census for my George W. Autry. In 1880 I just found George W 23 b. SC, with wife Sarah 24 b. SC with 2 daughters Mary A 2 b. GA & Rosa L 3/12 b. GA. They are living in the 10th District, Marray County, GA. This must be your George. I would like to compare locations and other information with you on your George W as it just might be the same one I am looking for. You can email me directly at rody_mo@yahoo.com Robin
Hi David - I just posted a note on your Ancestry site. I'm not sure if I told you that James T. and Martela (Yarbrought) Autry were living in Duck Creek, Stoddard Co., MO in 1910. I thought that since they ended up in Stoddard Co., there may be a connection to Ella Autry b> July 1867 Widowed, Niece of William Duncan and Emma. Mattie Autry, b: May 1888 MO granddaughter of Martha Purcell, b: Nove 1838 KY, widowed ( I believe her husband to be Edward Purcell - 1880 census for Stoddard Co., MO; Pearl b: March 1885, servant for H. M. Flanery. These werre on the 1910 census for Duck Creek, Stoddard Co., MO. I've traced Pearl to 1920 Washington Co., OR and Portland OR in 1930. It's just a thought, but thought that maybe your James T. is the son of James and possibly he was in Craighead Co., AR between 1880-1884 living with or near William H., since he married Martela in 1884 and they were living there through the 1900 census. 1910 census Stoddard Co., MO and 1920 Omaha, NE - 1930 Martela is widowed in Omaha and she died in CA. Do you know if Pearl is the sister to Mattie since they Ella, Pearl and Mattie were living with others and were probably orphaned. Food for thought - let me know - Marg
