The Autry book was published in 1996, shortly after Mayo Bundy died. He did most of the book, as he did the previous editions. I had to finish the index by long distance. We sold most of the books and gave several to libraries. Andrea Autrey put it all on the inter net, thru Autrey Heritage?, except, for privacy reasons, I think most living were omitted. I sent the last copy, with some corrections, to Higginson Book Co, Salem, MA where I think copies are available, for some $100, for 1100 pages. You can reach Higginson via the internet. The name is: THE DESCENDANTS OF CORNELIUS AUTRY, IMMIGRANT, OF EDGECOMBE COUNTY, AND NEIL CULBRETH OF SAMPSON COUNTY, NORTH CAROLINA, AND ALLIED FAMILIES. As we indicate in the forward, this consists of info sent to Mayo Bundy over 40 years, and to me, and we made no effort to document any of it. Hope this helps. Robert Autry Brooks 3/05
Thanks Robert, Andrea and Marshall for the information. I should be able to locate the book now. Thanks again, Marvin
Everyone who was born after 1920 was omitted. You can see the book on my website at http://www.autreyheritage.com . -----Original Message----- From: RAB55@aol.com [mailto:RAB55@aol.com] Sent: Sunday, March 06, 2005 3:14 PM To: AUTRY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [AUTRY] Autry-Culbreth Book The Autry book was published in 1996, shortly after Mayo Bundy died. Hi David - I believe that the elder Gilbert also went by Goldie/Golda, found on the 1900 census for Birch Tree, Shannon Co., MO, and listed on the 1930 census as Gilbert G. Autry in Omaha, Douglas Co., NE with wife Ada, Children: Eileen (possibly also Goldie) b: 1910; Maxine b: abt. 1911 and Gilbert b: abt. 1914. The obit for the younger Gilbert "Gil" Autry lists his wife as Joanna Osborne, and children Michael of Elk Grove, Ca. Allan of Kirkland, WA and Gregory of Issaquah, WA. Email me & I'll give you the phone #'s. Remember I talked with one of the boys several months ago, but haven't heard back as yet. Keep in touch - Margaret Pickens

My Gilbert's father, also Gilbert, died in LA Co., Ca. during the 1940's, so your Gilbert (this could get confusing quickly) is not his dad. However, I have wondered about Gilbert Dean and who his father may have been. It wasn't Raymond L., by chance, was it?

I think my Autrys are related to this family and would appreciate hearing from any descendants of these two men.

It is indexed by surname and covers nearly all the counties in Tennessee except for those where records have been destroyed for this time period (1779-1861). Just email me the name you are looking for and I will give you the information from this book. It gives the name, date, where the record can be found, the letter or number of the record book and then the page number and the county. Kristi Moffitt www.gensearch.org kkcem@blomand.net
William W. Weldon may be correct. Richard has done a lot of good work in this line. The obituary of Mrs. C. A. Autry (Cynthia Ann Weldon Autry) in the Greenwood (Ark) Democrat in March 1907 was reprinted from the Wynnewood (OK) Era said that she "was born in Henry County, Tenn. April 13, 1833. She was the daughter of William Weldon and wife." So I don't know where the "B" in my info came from. The obituary also says "She removed from Tenn. to Texas in 1852, and in 1861 was married to Dr. J.C. Autry". This obituary is a copy that I got from an aunt in Little Rock, Ark, some 40 years ago and is not an actual copy. So mistakes may have occurred! Robert Autry Brooks
