Hello Cece, What RootsWeb does not allow is for individuals or companies to advertise or promote their products on lists because, if it were allowed, lists would be inundated with advertising. But that is not what we're doing when we, as consumers of DNA testing, discuss the kinds and costs of DNA tests. DNA testing is simply not something we can do, ourselves, so it inevitable means purchasing it from a commercial laboratory, and because price is part of the decision of what and where to test, it needs to be part of the discussion. Therefore, I actually do allow the posting of prices on my DNA lists, including the announcement of sales - just as long as the poster isn't financially connected to the company being touted. If you have any doubts whether to post something that might be perceived as SPAM, please contact me offlist before posting to see whether it's OK.
