Is there a forum for GedMatch? As in 'HOW' to use the utilities? Specifically I'm having a problem figuring out how to use the "Generate phased data file". I thought I did it right, but where would I then find the file? And what to do with it when I find it :) Also, I'd like to be able to ask questions about what I'm seeing on GM's 'Chromosome Browser'. melissa springer robards
The files (there is a paternal and a maternal one) are not available to download. They are only generated for you to be able to use in the other gedmatch utilities. It also takes about 24 hours for them to be available for the compare to all utility. They are given the same number as the gedmatch number for the file you used to generate them, but preceded with a P for phased and followed by either P1 (paternal) or M1 (maternal). If you then enter either your maternal or paternal phased file number in the one to many comparison it will show you which of your matches are definitely on that side of your lineage. You can also use these paternal and maternal phased files for some of the other comparisons and utilities. I don't know of a specific forum for gedmatch. You could try to post questions about it to FTDNA's forum or 23andMe's forum, or to the successor forum to the old DNA Forum, http://eng.molgen.org. ________________________________________ From: [email protected] [[email protected]] on behalf of M Robards [[email protected]] Sent: Saturday, July 07, 2012 12:45 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUTOSOMAL-DNA] GedMatch Forum? Thank you, Kevin, I can be so dense at times, and I kept waiting for some notification of a file to download :) I do have those 'P' numbers so I'll see what other trouble I can get into now :) melissa On Sun, Jul 8, 2012 at 7:12 AM, Kittilson, Kevin (WCCA) <[email protected]> wrote: > The files (there is a paternal and a maternal one) are not available to download.
