After my webinar several people told me that they had/would join(ed) in order to gain access to the archives. Since my webianr will probably not be posted for a bit, I advised them to watch Roberta's and Judy's earlier webinars on genetic genealogy. I am trying to set up the spreadsheet via DNAGedCom.com download. It says to be patient for up to 15 minutes. Mine has been winding for an hour and is not finished. We have a really nice internet connection, so that shouldn't be it. Though it does occur to me that my husband (a producer of variety shows) is working with music from the internet at the same time--perhaps he is stealing too much bandwidth. : ) Or could it be because this particular DNA kit is only complete up to 37 markers (the rest are still in the works)? Too many matches because of the low number of markers? Clearly, I am new to this. But determined to learn. Yes, it does get confused if you don't have a FTDNA family finder kit. I've tried to get 23andme to recognize when the kit isn't there, though. I should mention that 23andMe recently changed the way that you choose the profile AGAIN and that of course broke multiple profiles again. I'm on travel for my work this week, but will try to find time to finish fixing it. I started some changes but I haven't had a good chance to fully test. -----Original Message----- From: autosomal-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:autosomal-dna-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of CeCe Moore Sent: Tuesday, September 24, 2013 2:15 PM To: Autossomal DNA List Subject: Re: [AUTOSOMAL-DNA] download through DNAGedCom.com Janis,DNAGEdcom is only for autosomal DNA test like Family Finder or 23andMe. Well,it was the FamilyFinder I was trying to get from FamilyTreeDNA. I subsequently, and rather quickly, obtained it from another of my sponsored kits. So I am working on that one. Wish I could find more screen shots, though. I'm not certain what the last column represents: I have the Chromosome Browser open in a spread sheet, have eliminated the cm's under 10, and have sorted by 1) chromosome and 2) starting point. >From here, though I have the handout, I'm unclear on how to handle color coding. From left to right, the columns appear to be: Blank, Name of compared kit, number of chromosome, start, finish, no. of shared cm's, and then two columns that I can't identify. I have browsed through the recommended supplemental sites, as well as constantly referenced Cece's handout from the webinar. I'm sorry to be so far at the back of this game, but if someone could point me to the next step, I'd be grateful! Operator error: I signed in on the wrong account. I manage 6 accounts, one of them has just received the kit and started the process--I accidentally signed in on it instead of one of the 5 kits with a completed FamilyFinder kit. It downloads real nice when you sign in for the right kit! : ) Janis On Sep 24, 2013, at 2:15 PM, CeCe Moore <cecemoore@hotmail.com> wrote: > Janis,DNAGEdcom is only for autosomal DNA test like Family Finder or 23andMe. > > CeCe Moore > www.yourgeneticgenealogist.com > > >> From: janis.gilmore@gmail.com >> Date: Tue, 24 Sep 2013 11:15:02 -0400 >> To: autosomal-dna@rootsweb.com >> Subject: Re: [AUTOSOMAL-DNA] download through DNAGedCom.com >> >> I am trying to set up the spreadsheet via DNAGedCom.com download.
