Isn't it possible to download your ICW list from FTDNA, sort (in Excel) by chromosome and megabasepair, and thus identify true ICW groups (presumably sharing a common ancestor)? Eric, The short answer is no. I use a spreadsheet with all of my segments over 7cM (from FTDNA, 23andMe and GEDmatch). I can easily see everyone who is on equal and overlapping segments. Without other info, you cannot tell whose segment is from which parent. At 23andMe and GEDmatch you can see which of their segments match each other. You can then group them (Triangulation), but you still don't know which of your parents the segment is from. Now if you have any known relative on this segment (parent, aunt/uncle, cousin), you know which side they are on and if they match a person or someone in a Triangulated group, you can assign all of that group to that parent's side. And/or, if the relative's segment should overlap a Triangulated group sufficiently to be a match, but isn't, then you can assign that group to the other parent's side. Clearly if you have phased data/segments, that will let you assign matching segments. IMO, ICW files don't provide enough data to make Triangulated groups. You could make tentative groups, but some will not hold up. Jim - Sent from my iPhone - FaceTime!
