    3. FTDNA shows that I match person A on Chromosome 3 as follows: Chromosome Start Location End Location centiMorgans (cM) # of Matching SNPs 3 150753777 161181771 8.77 2188 FTDNA shows person B, my cousin known from a paper trail, matches person C as follows: Chromosome Start Location End Location centiMorgans (cM) # of Matching SNPs 3 150753777 161181771 8.77 2188 However, FTDNA does not report that I match either person B, my cousin, or person C and does not report that person B matches person A. If all four of us match at the exact same place on Chromosome 3, is there a valid reason that FTDNA does not show all of us as matches? Is it reasonable to conclude that the four of us are likely to have a common ancestor? Incidentally Gedmach shows that I match person A as follows: Chromosome Start Location End Location centiMorgans (cM) # of Matching SNPs 3 150617062 161081884 8.5 2109 Any comments or suggestions will be appreciated. 3. Dear Bob, I suggest you be cautious about this situation. There are a number of possible explanations for this situation including the following: 1. It is possible that there are one or more genotyping errors that are preventing you from all matching each other at FTDNA. 2. It is possible that the 20 cM threshold for displaying a match isn't being met by several of the people. 3. It is possible that persons B and C are matching each other on the opposite chromosome than person A is matching you on. You could have all of these people upload their data files to GEDmatch and review the data there or you could ask them to send you their raw data files so you can sort this all out from the raw data yourself.
