But in this case, both my dad & I match him on one chromosome (20) which entirely overlaps, my mom & her maternal aunt match him on a completely different chromosome (1) which overlaps. I don't match him on the same chromosome as my mom & aunt. It's 2 entirely different chromosomes, not the same and so not the opposite of a pair of chromosomes (as in maternal or paternal) Does this make sense ? When you have a shared segment, you don't know which of your two chromosomes it's on. Even Triangulation doesn't tell you which one, unless you Triangulate with a known relative.
