    3. Hi Barbara, Thank you for this information. That is a big help. Thank you also for the links you sent. When I last searched the digital records they were only of WWI guys. Having WWII available as well is a huge help. 2. I think you will find that the WW2 POW records are not listed for obvious reason. WW2 records can be requested as either hard copies or to be digitised. ----- Original Message ----- From: "ROSALYN SMAILL" <rstruttonsmaill@bigpond.com> To: <australian-pows@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, December 14, 2009 8:48 AM Subject: Re: [AUSTRALIAN-POWS] Sandakan Information > Hi Barbara, > Thank you for this information. 3. When I started searching one had to pay to get the records photocopied and posted!! Or wait for several weeks to get the images done and put on site!!! It pays to go back to some of these sites and try again. There was an enquiry/court martiel/something into Ambon - my ex had an uncle who survived and I know he gave evidence. After the breakup, I started to look into my own family and never 'went back'. But if you look around, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding information on Ambon and what the conditions were like, etc.
