Prior to departing for New Zealand, William Wiseman, eldest son of Solomon Wiseman married Captain John GRONO's seventh daughter Matilda on the 22nd June, 1829, it being the first wedding ceremony known to have been celebrated in the historic Ebenezer Church. They had issue of one daughter, Jane Matilda, prior to the 28th February, 1831, on which date, "THE INDUSTRY" was wrecked in a terrific sorm in East Harbour, New Zealand, when Captain William WISEMAN and 10 members of his crew were drowned.
