Hello Listers My grandfather's brother, Herbert John William George DANIEL, was born in Riverton in 1865. On leaving school, he served his apprenticeship as a compositor with the Western Star newspaper in Riverton. He moved to Auckland in 1884 where he met Jane HINCH, 3rd daughter of James HINCH who was deceased by 1885. Herbie and Jane were married in Auckland in March 1885 and their son Herbert Edgar was born later that year, with both the baby and Jane dying the following February. The baby died from Diarrhoea - maybe Jane did too. She was still in her teens with Herbie widowed before he was legally an adult. My quest is this: does anyone know which newspaper Herbie may have worked for in Auckland at that time? I have just discovered - horror of horrors! - that Herbie and Jane's entries are missing from my database. Fortunately I had written a short (one page) story about Herbie and was able to retrieve some of the details. I don't, however, have Jane's birth or baptism, or her date of death or burial.
