Hello Listers I read in "Early Records of Riverton and District" that Richard STEVENS (1802-1889), wife Sarah and children Edward Thomas (22), Sarah Jane (16) and Emma (10) arrived in New Zealand on the "Royal Albert" in 1853. I have just been given information that a Richard STEVENS was buried in Riverton in 1853. It wasn't the father as I have his DC for 1889. However, Richard and Sarah had a son Richard who was 2 years older than ET. At this stage I'm wondering exactly when in 1853 the RA arrived and if there would be a passenger list. It is possible that their son Richard did accompany them and died soon after arrival. Compilers of the article in the book would not necessarily have known about his migration. I'll be contacting a cousin in or near Gore who may be able to check out the exact date of the 1853 burial. I've been sent the name of a centre in Gore which has a new Burial Locator. The family settled in Jacob's River (now Riverton), so would they have come into Dunedin? Any help most appreciated. Many thanks. Pam Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia
