    1. [AUSTRALIA-NEW-ZEALAND] Burial - Mary Ann STEVENS
    2. PMR
    3. Hello Listers On 2 Dec 1855, Mary Ann STEVENS is listed as a pupil at Jacob's River (now Riverton) School in Southland. On the 1851 Census for Bow in London (she migrated with her family in 1853), Mary Ann is listed as 9 years old, so has a birth year around 1841/42. In an article on Edward John STEVENS (s/o of Mary Ann's brother Edward Thomas), in "Records of Early Riverton and District", no mention is made of Mary Ann - just that EJ's grandfather migrated with his wife, one son and daughters Sarah and Emma. However, Mary Ann appears, along with Sarah and Emma, on the Passenger List for the relevant ship in 1853. Is anyone able to check the Riverton Cemetery records to see if there is a burial for Mary Ann from 1856 onwards please? Also, could someone remind me, please, when Civil Registration began in NZ? Many thanks. Pam Beaudesert, Queensland, Australia
