When the £50 reward for the arrest of the absconder BAILEY comes to be paid, the claims of Detective KIRBY should not be overlooked. It was on the strength of a report by that officer to the Commissioner of Police that BAILEY was captured. The detective learned through private sources of information that BAILEY had been seen at Orange, New South Wales, and reported the facts at once through his superior officer here to the Commissioner, so that he was enabled to cable over to the police there.
