Dear List, I have a family who married in Vic, Aust and went to NZ. and am asking for a look up on any CD's that may find them or their children. Also searching for marriages, deaths etc. What I have to date: William Read born abt 1829 UK died ?? married Maria Bickley born 1833 UK died ??? Married 1860, Melbourne, Victoria Aust. Known children: Frederick Bickley Read born 1862 Vic died 21 June 1932 Teviot ST, Invercargill. Robert Read born 1863 Essendon, Vic nothing more known Elizabeth (Lizzie) Read born ? Married? died? Possibly a Charles Read?? Maria Anne Read born ? Married ? died? I have a photo of Maria Read taken in Dunedin has Grey town Otago NZ 1883 on the back. Another photo has Maria Anna/Anne Read (Young Lady also taken in Dunedin).Another is Lizzie Read also a young lady. Most of the photos are taken in Dunedin. A later one in Invercargill. Hi Amanda I had a quick look at www.cityofdunedin.com and clicked on cemeteries (Andersons Bay). Found perhaps William (although there appears to be two Williams...........) and Maria Ann Read b 5/3/1868 Dunedin and died 19/3/1888. Buried at Greytown (Allenton) Cemetery. This may give you some sort of lead. Frederick Bickley READ has a WILL available at Archives NZ - Dunedin. This person is listed as a Blacksmith and could shed some light on other parts of the family. FB Read is really the only identifiable person with his two given names, one being the mothers maiden name. Also try www.archives.govt.nz and www.archway.archives.govt.nz. You could also contact the New Zealand Society of Genealogists branch at Dunedin as I suspect a member has an interest in this family. Details at www.genealogy.org.nz.
