HBH 1892 Nov 18 2 H M S HOWE Shipping Note H.M.S. HOWE, which is now ashore on the Spanish coast, is one of the first-class sea-going armour clade in the Royal Navy, and was built at PEMBROKE in 1861. She is a steel vessel of 10,300 tons displacement, and is 325 ft long, 63 ft broad, and 26 ft 8 in deep. Her citadel is compound and 18 in thick, all of steel. Her armament consists of four 13 ½ in 67 tons breech-loading guns, 16 quick firing guns, seven magazine guns, and two torpedo boats. Her engines were of 1152 h.p., and her speed is set down as 16.7 knots per hour
