Hi Sandra, Many thanks for this info. I was aware that Emiley's (sic) first husband Oliver Harcourt Labone, came back to the UK to re-marry an then went back to NZ to marry again - must have been an energetic chap! So it's quite possible that Emiley remarried as your details suggest. Also, Leonard Harcourt Labone WAS the son of Emiley and Oliver. He was born 21 Feb 1883 in the UK and died 21 Nov 1942 at Wellington. There were at least another two children from the original marriage - Marie Labone d: 28 Aug 1904 and Walter Edward Labone d: 17 Jan 1953, both at Wellington. Thank you so much for your help. Kind regards, Edward ----- Original Message ----- From: "SOMERS" <somers@igrin.co.nz> To: <australia-new-zealand@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2007 4:50 AM Subject: [AUSTRALIA-NEW-ZEALAND] Local Newspapers > > Hi Edward > > I found the following info - unfortunately nothing available > online.......>

Hi Edward I found the following info - unfortunately nothing available online....... Burial records dating back to 1891 at Karori Cemetery, and 1965 at Makara Cemetery, are available for public viewing at the Karori Cemetery office. The office also holds records dating back to 1849 of interments at Bolton Street Cemetery, now Bolton Street Memorial Park. The cemetery holds records for 151,409 people who have been interred or cremated. Records can be searched by plot location or name. There is also an entry on NZ Marriages 1836 - 1956 CD for: Emily LABONE married James DILLON 1918 #3662 this may be your Emily who has remarried??! I also noticed on another CD, a Leonard Harcourt LABONE who might be a son of Oliver Harcourt LABONE. He has Probate/a WILL available at Archives NZ - Wellington office and that might give you further info on family. If you need more details/reference please come back to me. Best wishes Sandra Auckland New Zealand ----- Original Message ----- From: "Edward Etchells" <fulwelled@tiscali.co.uk> To: <australia-new-zealand@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, August 12, 2007 10:03 AM Subject: Re: [AUSTRALIA-NEW-ZEALAND] Local Newspapers > Thanks Julia. This eminent artiste comes to Napier with a very high reputation, being pronounced by the English and Continental Press as "The Queen of Pianistes" and "The Paganini of the piano," and "The compeer of the great RUBENSTEIN, Arabella GODDARD, and others who occupy the foremost rank among musicians." Miss Burvett, has given grand performances in all the principal capitals of Europe and the chief cities of the United Kingdom and Australasia, often under royal or vice-regal patronage, and she has been decorated with several gold medals (some of which are orders of merit) and presented with diplomas. She is described as possessing extraordinary delicacy of touch and mastery of the keyboard, combined with wonderful power, expression, and versatility, her repertoire being very extensive, and ranging from the most classic to the popular compositions. The last concert in the Opera House, Wellington, was under the patronage of the Earl of Glasgow and the Countess, and attracted one of the largest and most fashionable audiences ever gathered within the walls of that building. Mr MUNRO, Agent-General for Victoria, says that the statements made by the Investors' Review refute themselves, and he denounces them as outrageous and untrue. HBH 1892 July 29th Thistle SHIPPING NOTE The schooner Thistle from the Solomon Group, which put into Newcastle recently with the captain ill, left the "coal city" in tow of the steamer Alice for Sydney. The Thistle has had a successful trip so far as trading is concerned. She left Sydney on April 8, and arrived at St. Anna on the 23rd. Here a boat came off for mails, and reported the murder by natives of a trader named Francis NYBERG. He was murdered ten days previous. The island of Munia was called at, and after collecting a valuable cargo the return trip was commenced. Bunyetta Point was cleared on the 18th instant. Variable weather was had till abreast of Crowdy Heads on the 24th, when a heavy southwest gale was encountered, in which several sails were carried away. Two heavy seas were shipped, smashing part of the bulwarks and washing the captain away from the wheel. After this light winds and calms prevailed to Newcastle and Captain HAWKINS decided to run in for medical advice. Captain HAWKINS was attended by a medical man, and was found to be suffering from rheumatic fever and injuries received by being washed away from the wheel.
