Hi Colleen Sorry I can't help you with passenger lists etc I have had no need to search them I know how all my ancestors arrived in NZ - suggest you try Google to find the Wellington or Auckland city libraries and ask them. The folio number tells you which district the event was registered in and which calendar quarter. Unfortunately I do not have access at home to the books that decode this information. For certificates go to http://www.censorship.dia.govt.nz/diawebsite.nsf NZ certificates can give a lot of information - especially marriage certificates but like every where else it depends on the informant. Birth certificates do not list previous children and death certificates should have the deceased' place of birth and parents' names but do not list their children. Regards Ian Electronic Printout of Historic Registrations If your search on the microfiche is successful, you may wish to purchase either a certificate or an electronic printout (which usually contains more information than a certificate). An electronic printout costs NZ$26.00 if the event took place from 1848 to 1874, or NZ$20.00 if the event took place after 1874. The cost of the certificate or electronic printout is additional to the cost of the search. Electronic printouts of records from the following years are available from our Auckland and Wellington offices: a.. Births 1848 - 1997 b.. Deaths 1848 - 1997 c.. Marriages 1854 - 1997 Request for an Electronic Printout of a Birth, Death, Marriage or Civil Union Record (BDM 92) (214k) You need to have the Adobe Acrobat Reader installed on your computer to download this form. You can download a free version from the Adobe site. Hard copy versions are available from Births, Deaths and Marriages. The cost per request, when the correct year is given is NZ$26.00 if the event took place from 1848 to 1874, or NZ$20.00 if the event took place after 1874. Search fees are payable for extended searches. How to apply a.. Complete the Request for an Electronic Printout of a Birth, Death, Marriage or Civil Union Record (BDM 92) and post it with a cheque or bank draft (in New Zealand currency) or a New Zealand Post money order to Births, Deaths and Marriages; or b.. Write to Births, Deaths and Marriages with the details we need and a cheque or bank draft (in New Zealand currency) or a New Zealand Post money order; or c.. Fax Births, Deaths and Marriages with appropriate details and your credit card details; or d.. Call Free (NZ) 0800 22 52 52 or phone (+64 4) 474 8150 (from outside New Zealand) and provide details over the phone if paying by credit card (Visa, Bankcard or Mastercard only); or e.. You need to tell us all you know and where you have looked. What time period are we talking about? You say that you cannot find where any of the Wilson's were born but also say you have marriage and birth certificates - where did you get them and what information is in them? It would also help if you told us where you live. From your email address you are in Australia but it is no use telling you to go to, for example, the State Library of Victoria in Melbourne if you live in northern Queensland. Some of you will know I am the convenor of Saving Graves Western Australia and am fighting the renewal process that has been in place at Karrakatta Cemetery (applies to all Western Australian Cemeteries) since 1986. The practice is outdated and outmoded and I do not believe that all options are being explored and considered. In my opinion the removal of headstones from a grave is legalised desecration. It has been brought to my attention that there are cemeteries in some Australia States and other countries that are considering this process. I would like to know what the current policy is for the removal of headstones on expired tenures and if there has been any policy in place for cemetery renewal that has been abandoned in favour of something else. I would like to know what the cemetery authorities consider a historically significant person buried in any cemetery and what privilege is afforded to graves of defence personal both officially recognised and unrecognised. Hello listers, Can SKS do a lookup for me please? I'm looking for the birth of Elizabeth ANDERSON, do John ANDERSON and Mary HOUSTON, supposedly born in Dunedin abt 1869. Also her marriage to ?? STEET, sometime prior to 1891. Elizabeth STEET married William BREAKELL, in 1899, in Melbourne, stating that she was a widow, since 1891, and with one child. However, children from this marriage have her listed as Elizabeth ANDERSON, Mother. Then I discovered a marriage in 1915, in NSW, for William BREAKELL and Elizabeth STEET. Maybe the 'dead' husband resurfaced. :-) Thank you, Judy Thomas
