    3. Hello Gail I searched NSW BDMs for deaths on first name Robyn and father Herbert and mother Edith. Came up with Robyn Patricia Blunt, Father Herbert Cecil and Mother Edith. Died 1965 Reg No 546 Registered at Sydney. I suggest the only way you might find more is if you can find her in cemetery records. If so I will check the Herald to find out if there is a death notice where you can get the names of husband and child. Alternatively, do you have the death dates of her parents - might also have a notice and names. 1. Passenger Shipping Lists - a little help needed
    2. Brenda & Tony MacCulloch
    3. Hi everyone on this 2006 Waitangi Day Holiday, My query is as follows, it has to do with information that my cousin was given last week in Kew, England when she was attempting to find an ancestor of ours who appears in the 1871 English Census and has no other documentation until he married in 1887 in the Christchurch (NZ) Registrar's Office. Walter GOULDS (born GOLDS) m. Emily Jane GROVE, both usually resident in Rakaia, Canterbury. We are trying to work out when and how he arrived in New Zealand and when my cousin enquired at Kew last week she was informed that : "...passenger lists to NZ do not exist before 1890..." As we know, there are Passenger Lists prior to 1890, is it simply that Kew hasn't kept them so don't have them. Where have the lists that are available on the internet come from? Is it the sterling efforts of volunteers that have provided them, and is Kew talking about official lists. As you see above, my great grandfather Walter GOULDS was originally GOLDS, we have confirmation of this but don't know which name he travelled under, maybe he swam here :) He was from a very poor family in the village of Washington, Sussex so wouldn't have travelled in a cabin. Cheers, Brenda

On the 29 Oct 1830 He sailed for New Zealand as Captain of the GRONO built and part owned "Industry" . The "Industry" was wrecked at Easy Harbour, Stewart Island, 28 Feb 1831, with the loss of William and ten men. About 1830 William WISEMAN purchased large tracts of land around Lyttelton and Christchurch on behalf of Daniel COOPER and Solomon LEVEY. No documents have been found to support this purchase, and the transaction is hidden in obscurity owing t! > o the untimely death of WISEMAN in 1831. There was trading in flax, pigs and potatoes with the Maoris from about 1830. Port Lyttelton, near Christchurch, was known as Port Cooper, and a port close to the north was called Port Levy. The names had been given to the Ports by William WISEMAN who was employed by COOPER and LEVEY. In 1848 the names of the two bays were changed. Ports Cooper and Levy, were thus called Ports Victoria and Albert, after the Queen and the Prince Consort. > > > > Toby in OZ ~¿ô > > > ============================== > Find your ancestors in the Birth, Marriage and Death Records. > New content added every business day. 1. WISEMAN/GRONO & WRECK OF THE INDUSTRY, NEW ZEALAND 28 FEB, 1831.
    2. Jenelle McCarrick
    3. Prior to departing for New Zealand, William Wiseman, eldest son of Solomon Wiseman married Captain John GRONO's seventh daughter Matilda on the 22nd June, 1829, it being the first wedding ceremony known to have been celebrated in the historic Ebenezer Church. They had issue of one daughter, Jane Matilda, prior to the 28th February, 1831, on which date, "THE INDUSTRY" was wrecked in a terrific sorm in East Harbour, New Zealand, when Captain William WISEMAN and 10 members of his crew were drowned. I understand there are a few places named after Captain John Grono in New Zealand. Jenelle jmac2005@tpg.com.au
