    2. dianna charles
    3. Hi Everyone I'm doing research into a convict ancestor Michael BYRNE who arrived in 1800 on the "Minerva". Michael had two sons' William and Michael, William was born in West BARGO NSW on 4-10-1807 but I don't know who these boys mother was. Michael (Minerva) was sent to Norfolk Is, in 1805 and on the 1806 Census he is apparently living with a Susannah ROBERTS, in NSW. I'm trying to find out where this birth record came from for Michaels sons and if indeed this Susannah is the boys mother. There is a mention in the paper in Feb 1810 that Michael Byrne would accept no more claims made on him by this Susannah Roberts. William BYRNE married NANNO/ANN BYRNE (per Tellicherry) in 1826 in Campbelltown NSW. Their first child was name Susannah. Any help with finding any details on this Susannah ROBERTS would be very much appreciated kind regards Dianna

    3. > > I am new to this list and have just discovered that my GrandFather was a > member of the Loyal Orange Lodge in Victoria. > Is there anyway that I would be able to find out what they were about Well, that is interesting. I was just visiting New York and went over to Canada to do more research on my grandfather's family (Boyle-County Kilkenny, Ireland; Carter-Nottinghamshire, England). Both families had members in the Orange Lodge who defended their area from the Fenian Raids. See: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fenian_raids Both families were Wesleyan Methodists in Canada and in England and Kilkenny. -- Pat Connors, Sacramento, CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

    1. [AUSTRALIA-GENWEB] John William McMAHON
    2. Jim Robbens
    3. Just joined and making my first posting: John William McMAHON b about 1907 (probably England), Father Thomas McMAHON (from marriage certificate). John Married my aunt Ruth ROBBENS (b 21 June 1906, Lambeth, London, England) on 4 August 1934 in Surrey Mid East Register Office (probably Epsom). John is an Electrician, his father a tramway engineer. They have two sons, John b September 1934, Surrey Mid East and Michael J b March 1935, Epsom, Surrey. Michael is thought to have died in 2002 in British Columbia, Canada. The family moved to Australia after the war and it is thought they settled in Mt Isa. It is believed John Sr was heavily involved with the Unions and I understand there were considerable labour difficulties in the area over a long period of time. There may have been two further children, David and Peter about whom nothing is known. Ruth eventually parted from John and returned to England where she died in 1986. The children stayed in Australia with their father. I would welcome any information about this "lost" branch of my family in Australia. Best wishes Jim Robbens
