    3. Hi All, Lynette, I enjoyed reading you account of the Broken Hill visits. I have a few genealogical loose-ends there, but I am not yet ready to try doing them up. >Nothing like it anywhere in the world unless I'm mistaken. I'm afraid you are - mistaken, that is. I spent my teenage years in Kalgoorlie W.A.. Years later I visited Queenstown in Tasmania. I couldn't believe how similar the two places were. It felt like going home! And many further years later, I visited Broken Hill. The similarity with Kalgoorlie was even more striking. I have since been to old (and new) Leigh Creek, and more recently to Coober Pedy - hope I've spelled these correctly - and had the same feeling. Conclusion; remote Australian mining towns look alike. (And it wouldn't surprise me to find many places in other parts of the world that feel just as 'homely', to those of us who grew up in such environs.) You've re-whetted my appetite for investigating that line of my mob, whose remains are now below the red dust of B.H.. Tom, Hobart
