I am totally against the proposal to reduce our cemeteries to make way for parkland. I thank Sharyn for sending me a copy of Ms. Pike's article, with whom I have since sent my disapproval. I do have some questions however which I hope someone can help me with. South Australia seems to have a 99 year rule on their cemeteries which I only became aware of when visiting the State with the view of taking photo's. The one particular cemetery I visited had re-used the plot, removed the old headstone but fortunately took a photo of it before they did, these photo's are held on file. Is this what is planned for Victoria's cemeteries? The other querstion is, have specific cemeteries been named or was Ms Pike generalising? I am presuming the cemeteries in question are Government land, shame because if we had the money we could buy it off them :o) I am very interested in this subject and will follow closely.
