Lynne, There should have been an inquest into the boy's death - I have a copy of one for a child who drowned in Bendigo in 1860. It is interesting reading, giving real insight into the life of the family at that time, but is also very sad to read, even though it was so long ago and I never knew the people. The inquest can be obtained from the public record office. I am sure someone on the mailing list would have an index (or access to the cd) to give you the inquest reference number. regards Monica
