I also do lookups at my local cemetery (Boroondara Cemetery, Kew). And I agree that although most burials are from deaths in the surrounding suburbs, there are many from more distant parts. An additional factor may have been cost, as well as family links. Burial plots were expensive, and families held title to their plot. If there was a space still available, it may have been a saving to bring a body some distance rather than purchase another plot. Cathie Shaw
