Dear List, I have a reference to a Blanche Ditchburn burial in the Old Ballarat Cemetery register on 11.3.1912. There's the word (Comp) in the record where it should be her age. Can anyone tell me what this means please. I also can't find her on the Vic BD&M index's. Regards Amanda
Amanda I just had a look at the cemetery records and it seems she is not actually buried there but has purchased that lot. She is not mentioned in the burial list. There are a Robert, Jane, William John, and Jane buried in that Grave but no blanche, The first burial was William John in 1862, it seems blanche then purchased the lot in 1912 then robert was buried in 1915, Jane in 1918 and the other Jane 1929. There is no headstone. Carmel -
Amanda, If my memory serves me correctly, Comp means compartment.
