    1. [AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES] CRISMANICH burial in Queensland
    2. Thomas Family
    3. Hi all, This is REALLY a shot in the dark. I'm trying to find the death or burial of Riccardo CRISMANICH, born 1929. He lived in Bairnsdale, Victoria, after coming to Aus with his parents and siblings in 1950 - the National Archives holds documents recording them as a "displaced" family, nationality Yugoslavian - then he moved to Queensland. He worked at various times as a concreter, tree feller and jack of all trades. A remaining family member believes he died in Queensland about 12 years ago but doesn't know a location. Accessible indexes don't go that far and I'm not a next of kin, so doubt if I'd be able to apply for a death certificate that recent. I really don't know where to start, but in the past this last has been very helpful, so it's worth a try! If anyone recognises the CRISMANICH name (in any context) I'd love to hear from you, or if you're searching local records and can keep an eye peeled I'd be very grateful. Thanks lots, Loretta

    3. G'day Loretta, There are people of that name in Gippsland now. As the name is a bit less common than Smith or Jones they could be related and may be able to help. I'd suggest you place this same message on the Gippsland list. They're a pretty switched on lot and have been going for 10 years. [email protected] but log on in the normal fashion. Good luck Regards, Chris in Adelaide -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Thomas Family Sent: Saturday, 17 January 2009 2:22 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [AUSTRALIA-CEMETERIES] CRISMANICH burial in Queensland Hi all, This is REALLY a shot in the dark. 3. Hi Chris, Thanks for your reply. You're not kidding when you say it's a less common name than Smith or Jones! The only one listed in Aus phone books is my half-brother John in Wonthaggi, who I'm doing this for. I haven't yet put a message on the Gippsland list because John's aunt, sister of the Riccardo in question, still lives in Bairnsdale and I didn't want to upset anyone. But she doesn't speak about Rico - John phoned her recently to see if she could provide a more specific location in Queensland and she hung up on him. I guess that gives us carte blanche to go ahead with whatever we can do to find out ourselves. So I will do that thing, post a message on the Gippsland list! 3. A Riccardo Bernard Crismanich died 1976 in Bairnsdale aged 70, parents Jack and Augusta Cossar. Augusta died 1965 aged 86. Is the one you are lookingfor? Age doesnt match though. Barb

    3. Loretta, Have you checked the Brisbane City Council site for Riccardo. The site covers burials, not cremations. www.brisbane.qld.gov.au Cheers, Jules.
